Day #73 > MONDAY 4th JANUARY
I start the day with a phone call to LRADAC – the Lexington drug & alcohol abuse centre – which goes well & I Email over my testimony & observations of the eight-plus weeks I’ve been here, so the team have a head start on Bob & Mum’s lifestyle before seeing them.
I’ve received many work messages overnight, as it seems everyone’s back at work today – so I have something else to get my teeth into today, but before all that Mum & I walk Abel.
She’s a little down & confused this morning, which I believe is the fall-out from yesterday’s assault on her mental well-being. Actually, I check back through previous Sundays & notice that it takes her a couple of days to get back to match-fitness, so the picture is becoming clear. I reassure her that all’s ok, & that there’s no reason to worry about anything, as understanding why there’s an issue is the first step in dealing with it; so the future is bright & we’re heading in the right direction.
I work all morning. Sigh.
I’m clear by early afternoon – hoorah! – so Mum & I visit Brenda & Trip; we have a lovely time for the hour or so that we catch up with them both, & they invite us over for dinner on Wednesday evening, which is very kind.
Once home I notice that Bob is drinking NA beer out of bottles now – not the cans, the x36 must’ve been drunk – oh, so he’s gone & bought more.
We spend the evening in traditional style: eat, TV, bed – Groundhog Day – nothing to say & nothing to report. No arguments as I don’t think anyone has the energy today.
I for one am now just counting down the days to get them some professional help & for Mum to get the strength to leave . . .
