Day #75 – Taking the Rough with the Smooth . . .

Day #75 > WEDNESDAY 6th JANUARY

Lovely long walk with Mum & Abel first thing in the winter sun, reminding her that Bob’s appointment is today & that she’s going tomorrow – explaining all & Mum seemingly understanding all well. We bumped into the neighbours & had a lovely chat too – always so good for us both to see other people . . .

I have a productive morning as I rearrange my banked flight home for Friday 22nd January; I speak with the counsellors to ensure they’ve got my testimony & resend it as it hasn’t arrived – how typical’s that eh – plus leave a message for Social Services to call me. All good.

Bob leaves for his counselling appointment at 12.50pm for his 1.30pm appointment, returns at 3.00pm.

Turns out there’s been an error somewhere, as apparently Bob’s appointment was actually at 8.30am this morning. Sigh. Well, well, well. They’ve rearranged it for next Thursday, but of course as it’s the assessment he could always decide not to continue – surprise, surprise.

Rest of the day is nondescript. Mum is ok, although seemingly focussed on her appointment tomorrow & asking what time to leave every 15 minutes. It’s clearly playing on her mind, so I reassure her what it’s actually about: it’s a positive meeting to help with direction for the future & not an interrogation – no need to worry at all as both Bob & I are here to ensure all goes wonderfully.

Bob is hard work in the afternoon – he was out a long time of course, despite no actual appointment, although he was asked to hang around till after 2.00pm in case there was a no-show & he could be seen then. Alas he wasn’t. He could still bail . . .

We ate, we made polite conversation, we watched TV & I went to bed.

I’m disillusioned & frustrated at the lack of progress today, but I am now of the view that I’m simply trying to put all in place to help them, & it’s ultimately their choice what to do, not mine!
