Day 88 > TUESDAY 19th JANUARY
This is it: Home time.
I pack in the morning but have till 3.00pm till I hand back the car, so I drop my updated new-and-improved Deweyland testimonies off to Melissa at LADRAC & Dr. Lyle by hand – of course neither is in to receive them in person, but I know they’ve made it to the right authorities. Gina, Mum’s neighbour, pastor & my extra ears & eyes, is also aware of all.
My work here is done.
Seems odd to have nothing to do with the Deweys today. No checking, evaluating, organising, helping, caring – no nothing. No company, no laughter, no nothing – it is very quiet without them!
A verse from scripture is on my mind today:
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
GALATIANS 6:9
Seems odd timing, as I’m leaving, so I let it settle & revel in not having to rush today, but later in the day I read verse 10 & it all makes sense:
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
GALATIANS 6:10
Household of faith indeed: My household & Our household
Poignant.
Later I let off a bit of steam by having a bit of a play with the launch control in the Charger – ahem – & find out just how good the handling is . . .
No damage done & I check-in on time at Columbia airport & resume that all-to-familiar scene of waiting for flights, but all goes relatively quickly & I soon find myself in Atlanta scoffing a cracking Mexican meal before embarking on my transatlantic flight which sees plenty of room as it’s virtually empty. All goes really well – good wine, good food & a good sleep too. Smashing.
I’m swept up on-time by Lia – oh my, what a wonderful bright sunny gift on this wet, windy & grey-grey-grey British day . . .
I’m back. In Blighty. Bump. Back to reality . . .
