Day #77 > FRIDAY 8th JANUARY
Mum is sharp as a pin this morning whilst making coffee. We have a lovely catch-up & she tells me they need to go shopping for some stuff – a big Costco shop. I decline Mum’s invitation to join them as I need to book flights & get my plans sorted for my departure, along with taking the opportunity to call & message both LRADAC the alcohol centre & Social Services. Oh, & Gina too, as I do need a little help with the logistics . . . all will be revealed 😉
I notice the answering machine is off today, so switched it back on whilst making coffee earlier, but noticed that just as Bob left for t’shops he turned the answering machine off again. Odd? I turned it back on, in case they should miss anything – or me come to that, as Bob knows I’m waiting on a couple calls . . .
Morecambe & Wise head out to the shops around 10.45am – no walk for Abel, as it’s raining & Bob wanted to head off. I crack on with all . . .
We’re off to Trip & Brenda’s tonight – finally – for dinner, so it’ll be very interesting to see Bob’s attitude to drinking, & for the record I pray he brings his own NA beer if he needs to have a drink drink, plus of course Mum will have spent some time with Bob today so could well be tired & muddled when she gets back – so I’m taking today as an accurate reflection on what life would be like with just the two of them together with no outside influence. I pray it goes well . . .
Well much to my relief the evening does indeed go well; Bob chooses water to drink & I confess Trip stealthily offers me a cheeky G&T in the same style of glass as Bob’s water, which I accept with relish. Mmm. Now, more seriously Mum chooses a glass of rosé. She handles it well, but I’m aware that she’s chosen wine so her memory doesn’t hold that she’s quit. We pass a lovely evening – everyone is relatively chatty – including Bob – & we leave around 10.00pm all smiling. No issues at all – I wonder if Bob heads straight for his beer when we return, but I head off to bed as that’s out of my jurisdiction eh . . .
A pleasure to be out-out tonight, to see Mum actually socialise & interact with others – it brought much joy to my heart & shows me that both Mum and Bob are capable of enjoying company!
