Day 84 – Walking in the Rain . . .

Day 84 > FRIDAY 15th JANUARY

Walk to the local Covid testing site, but alas it’s only for local residents, so I walk into ‘town’ – another couple of miles – but today it’s raining & very British outside. I have a waterproof jacket so after stopping & marvelling at the somewhat surreal sight of the world’s largest fire hydrant – mmm – I reach the nearest pharmacist & nip inside to ask for help in locating a Covid test nearby. The lady is very helpful, & gives me the address of two pharmacies – ironically both in Lexington near Mum & Bob – & I settle down in a deli with a lovely sandwich & a warm coffee to investigate further & dry out . . .

I book a test in Lexington for Monday afternoon – apparently it’s suitable for travel but time will tell – & I walk to a local car hire place to book a car for a few days, but alas they’re all out of cars – ! – so it’s suggested I book directly at the airport. Yes, makes sense, as I can drop the car back there when I fly home on Tuesday, making life easy – nice.

I’m finally back in the room around 3.00pm & take a long warm shower & spend the afternoon making arrangements, catching up on messages & watching a bit of YouTube – mainly comedies to lighten the mood, but a bit of scripture too, as I’m acutely aware that I could do with some good vibes . . .

Walking in the rain. Sigh.
Eerily quiet downtown Columbia . . .
